Tiger's Nest / Taktshang Monastery

This iconic landmark clings precariously to the cliff's edge. At around 3000 feet above the town of Paro, you're assured of witnessing the most incredibly stunning views.

Legend has it, that in the eight century, the guru Padma-sambhava flew to the top of the mountain on the back of a tigress where he meditated for three months. In 1684, the fourth ruler of Bhutan built the monastery and so the name Taktshang was born - that of Tiger's Nest.
