Buddha Dordenma

More commonly known as Buddha Hill – it is located amidst the ruins of Kuensel Phodrang Palace and scans the Southern approach to Thimphu. It is one of the largest statues in the world at a height of 51.5 metres and houses 100,000 8 inch gilded Buddhas and 25,000 12 inch Buddhas.

Surrounded by 943 acres of lush forest that encompasses the Kuenselphodrang Nature Park. A striking feature are the exquisite Golden Concubines that surround the Golden Buddha. Decorated in the finest artwork you will witness. Featuring monks who are still practising many of the old crafts.
